Apropos worked for me as well. I guess the one positive out of all of this is that
I found out about TuneUp utilities. My registry is certainly a lot sleeker now.
Just a hunch, but I think the problem may be in internet explorer. For the longest
time I had disabled: "enable third party browser extensions" but there were a couple
of toolbars that I liked, so I clicked this box open. In fact a minute after I did
this, my start page was hijacked...and of course now this. This one was hard to
pinpoint because it was hard to tell whether it was a virus or just a bug in XP;
clearly it's a virus. This is pure speculation but internet explorer settings could
be the cause.
Anyways, thanks for all the help in debugging. This was bugging me to no end!
