Empty Device Manager - fixed by removing apropos

THANKS to all who suggested apropos.fix. This worked for me also.
One day I tried to connect to the internet using dial up and I got a no dial tone
error. When I went to device manager to troubleshoot, I was shocked to find it empty
(no system name--nothing!).
I also had Trojan.crypt.t on my computer. Avast! Antivirus (free) took care of it.
