Did you get a resolution to this? I am in the exact same situation, IPOD recognized
by computer, I can surf the IPOD through explorer and see the photos on it, etc...
but itunes doesn't recognize it. Apple says it is due to empty Device Manager.
I've got the exact same situation you mention below about PNP already running, in
auto mode... and re-setting permissions. For me, when I try to check the second
box on the advanced tab, it tells me that you can't set permisions for all children
or something to that effect.
