I did manage to wrangle a free month of aol service since they know nothing and were clueless, but that did not get me online. You guys did - thank you. I printed 93 pages of this thread at work and just started trying everything on my home computer. The insidious apropos problem was the culprit. In safe-mode I did two things: I removed/deleted Contextplus from programs, then I text searched apropos in the registry as Lou Kurrelmeyer mentioned, found a "search assistant" folder that has apropos in it and deleted it. Not being a technical computer expert, I probably shouldn't be fooling with the registry, but I was desperate. It was like magic. Written in response to: !!Alternate Solution!!
