Update: I have solved my problem. It appears that a program I installed (Document Management System or "DMS") put a shortcut in my "Send to" folder. I use the program on my work computer and it works fine, but on my home computer it causes crashes. I couldn't remove the shortcut by opening the "send to" window and deleting it because clicking on the icon and choosing an action would cause a crash! So I had to go to dos and delete the .lnk file from the command line. Now my computer works fine, but every time I install an upgrade to the DMS program, I have to go back in and delete the .lnk file again. :(
