Same as posting solutions to other problems in advance. It's not likely many of those who need the fix will see it. But like you said, others can bookmark it. When you think about it, there's sufficient information in this 'old' thread, if they take the time to read the posts. If not, they can post a new message or go on the another source, or search result. I generally don't bother responding in these old threads, because they go on forever and get so confusing. If people would pay attention, they'd see this thread is ancient. Annoyances should archive these and make them read only.
