I continue to believe that you have Apropos or some variant thereof which is causing
your problem, largely because the scans you have run aren't detecting it, and the
fact that your device manager correctly displays devices in safe mode but not in
normal mode. By this time, you most likely have read that Apropos.C uses rootkit
techniques, discussed at:
http://www.sysinternals.com/utilities/rootkitrevealer.html
I suggest we see if some others may not have some idea how to detect and remove
this thing.
Why not try posting your problem at one of the forums noted below. In doing
so, be sure to explain all things you have tried, the removal tools and fixes you
have downloaded and run, etc., and tell them that your device manager shows devices
in safe mode but not in normal mode.
The other forums that may be helpful are:
--> http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14678998
--> http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=2814
You probably should start a new thread in posting there. Follow their instructions
and rules in posting messages.
I for one would be interested in hearing how you make out, and what ultimately
(hopefully something) works for you. It's discouraging to hear that the AproposFix
from the "swandog46" URL didn't work in your case, if in fact your problem is Apropos
related.
