I had problems shuting down windows xp pro
(2 machines) it would shut down then say it is now safe to turn off your computer
and hang I fixed it by (1)going into the bios if it says "acpi" disable it (2) by
plug and play os change to no(might have to search the bios) (3) and go into control
panel,power,disable hibernate (4) enable apm
(PS)it usually hapens if it says in control panel,system device manager,hardware
click on computer it will say standard pc hope this helps
