I'm not entirely sure why I thought it was software except it tries to charge and then thinks it's charged. I read something that suggested that the register of charging was linked to a software / BIOS link. I appreciate I may have misread this information. If it's not that then any suggestions would be helpful

What makes you so "sure" it's a software problem?
