Hi, Well first of all, about 6 months ago i noticed that my cd/dvd drives werent reading anything. When i try to insert any disk it will remain in the drive for about 30 seconds then pop out. Also, When i start my computer a black screen listing primary, secondary slaves and master's comes up saying that the hardware monitor has encountered an error please enter power menu for details .telling me i have the following options " press f1 to continue or press f2 to enter setup" i press f2 i went to f2 and entered what i think is called the bios? i rearraged some things but still the same things happen. I think this screen has something to do with the drives not reading anything my computer is running on windows xp home, service pack 1 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.70GHz 1.71 GHz and 256 MB of RAM its a sony vaio. My dvd and cd drives are named HL -DT -ST DVD -ROM GDR8160B LITE -ON LTR -24102B i do not have all the recovery cd's including disk 1.. also from startup i cannot get to the reformat screen pressing f10 because the bios screen comes up immediately,is there anything i could try? PLEASE HELP!
