I found that if I deleted the references to .ppt and .pot files in the keys below this one: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18 and when I went into explorer and modified the .ppt file type the problem went away...
