Not a solution to the flashing desktop and icon tray and then the sudden disapperance
but the following works and it is related to some of the posts above. You cant have
Norton Antivirus (2005) enabled upon startup and then you run the program/script
from Kellys-Korner-XP.com called disablerefresh.reg. I had to quickly run disablerefresh.reg
upon startup and when done everything was fine and I then enabled Norton Antivirus
2005. I think I have to repeat this process each time I log off though....
