Unable to open more than 1 Internet Window

Hello,
sorry for the vague title but I'm using IE 6 on Windows XP and find that I am unable
to have more than one IE window open at more than one time.
The original window remains fine but if I try and open a second or third window (such
as Open in new Window) then they just remain blank, have tried a refresh to no avail,
have to press Go on the tool bar to see anything.
This also seems to be stopping me from opening attachments in Hotmail.
