its a hardware after all and so they might become non functional at some point. check
device manager and see if there is any signs there. also double click the drive and
see if you can rollback driver. also try updating the drivers from the manufacturar
web page. one other thing is to go to msinfo32 and see under "componants-problem
devices" and see if the drive is there. let me know...
