downloading MP3 to "external media device"

i have a Mobiblu MP3 player ... but for its tiny size, i would guess it's like any
other MP3 player. my problem is that it will not accept downloaded songs from my
computer. when i try, it says "conversion required". i'm using Windows Media Player
10. conversion to what? how do i tell what my MP3's are currently formatted in
and how do i change them? thanks much, dan
