USB SD reader not recognized?

I have an Iogear USB SD card reader (jump drive style). It has worked well for several months, but suddenly it is no longer showing up in my laptop's drive listing when I plug it in. Strangely, it does appear in Device Manager, and in the "Safely Remove Hardware" list. I tried the drive in my desktop computer and it was recognized there, so I'm not sure what may have changed on my laptop. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the "generic volume" and USB mass storage device drivers using Device Manager but it didn't help. Any suggestions?
