You may still have the registry entry - Compress Old Files - in place or you lmay
have turned on compression on a particular drive or drive partition.
If you don't need compression it is better to turn it off and remove the registry
entry to prevent 'old' (i.e. not been opened for some time) files from being compressed
as compressing and decopressing files takes up CPU cycles and slows down the overall
performance.
