Bruce,
My apologies. I must have hit my head or suffered some other severe brain cramp.
My previous post with regards to the "Templates" in TweakUI is for the "New" context
menu and NOT the Send To context menu. Sorry.
So to help answer the Send To context menu problem....there are a couple of things
you can do.
If you have a drive letter you want to remove from ONLY the Send To context menu
and it's a CD/DVD burner, you can disable Windows recording properties for the drive.
Right click on the drive in question, click on the Recording tab. Uncheck the "Enable
CD recording on this drive". This will prevent you from dragging and dropping files
to the drive within Windows Explorer. But it will also remove the drive letter from
the Send To contect menu.
You could also "disable" a drive letter from TweakUI as well. In TweakUI, click
on My Computer\Drives...in the right pane will be all the drives. If you uncheck
a drive letter, the drive will be "disabled" and it will not appear in the Send To
context menu. BUT, it will also NOT appear in your Windows Explorer. So this is
a drastic method.
Rather than disabling the entire drive letter, you can also disable the Send To context
menu altogether, if you really want to. You can either navigate to the following
location in REGEDIT and delete the entry or you can copy the following line into
Notepad, save the file and double click on it. It will delete the entry for you.
Either way, the Send To context menu will be disabled by the following registry
entry.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Send To]
@=""
The true method how the Send To context menu gets populated is a mystery and many
people have many different opinions. The one sure thing is that Windows itself builds
an initial list (which apparently we don't have control over) and then the user's
Send To folder contents are added to the list.
I apologize again for the confusion. Not to sure what I was thinking that night.
I hope this post will help you in some way.
