Explorer crashing isn't really a minor problem, since it's Windows Shell... part 
of your desktop. When did this start happening, had you made any changes, installed 
any new programs, etc.? Have you ran any scans?

DEP isn't going to protect you from the WMF vulnerability, but it's added protection 
included in the installation of SP2. Undo the change you made, if that made the problem 
worse. As for the WMF exploit, it makes no difference whether it's a .WMF file or 
any other image extension. Did you install the patch M$ put out for it? If not, you 
should.
