I have a question about When I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer hangs at the "Please Wait" screen:

When I go to turn off the computer my screen will read downloading updates do not turn off computer will turn off when complete , but it never shuts down. I then have to hold my power button in to turn it off. It will stay on forever until I push and hold the button. How can I fix this problem.
