Anchor man is right, you got hosed.

IF, and this is a big if, the copy of XP you is actually a legitimate XP CDROM, or 
is a very good fake of a legitimate XP CDROM, MS has a program for you that, if you 
qualify, will give you a free replacement for the bogus or already activated copy 
you bought.
