I have an answer about Set
Defaults in Explorer:

When you double-click on a shortcut to a folder (eg. "Music Stash") on the desktop, wunduhs explorer opens it with a single-pane view, though if instead you were to right-click and select option "Explore" it would open with two panes, the left-hand one showing the directory tree structure. If, once within Windows Explorer, you chase Tools > Folder Options > File Types (yes, file types) and select the file type Folder, then poke Advanced then select "explore", poking "Set Default" will cause two-pane opening to manifest... This thanks to NZ PC World magazine. I'd never have guessed...
