I had a similar problem recently where the Lexmark X73 printer Power light was blinking
and I got the "trouble communicating with the printer" error message. I could not
print anything, not even a test page. I followed the Diagnostic Test procedure
described above (in a previous response) but then cleaned the electrical contacts
on the ink cartridge using a q-tip dampened with distilled water. It did the trick!
The cartridge didn't look dirty, but apparently was just enough to cause the problem.
