Keyboard and mouse stop responding during boot-up

Hi, I idiotically made a change in the registry. Now, my pc appears to boot up normally, but the keyboard and mouse become non-responsive when Windows starts. You can imagine how much can get done without input devices. I can edit in the bios, and that's it. Windows stopped recognizing my CD-RW and DVD drives (after reinstalling Roxio, unrelated), so they're not usable. If I can just get into regedit from a command prompt, I can undo the change. Is that possible? If so, how? I've tried booting in safe mode, but no difference. The floppy drive works, and I have another pc that's got XP on its hard drive, but it has no display, and a couple of other hardware problems. Can someone help me?

If you think education's expensive, try ignorance.
