I suspect that Word is corrupted. Try and save a new file of a word document. It 
only needs to be of a few lines and see if it produces two saved files. If it does 
then you will need to uninstall and reinstall Word.
As for gtting rid of those files beginning with a _ , do a search for _*.* and delete 
them.
