Unable to Play Video

Can someone help me figure out why I'm not able to view a video I recently downloaded? It's a 4-part series and so far part 1 works, and part 2 won't play in anything except VLC Media Player, which I don't like. Does anyone know of any codecs I can download that can help? I've downloaded the All-in-1 codec pack, but it didn't help. The file won't play in WMP, WinAmp or QuickTime and keeps giving error -- ModName: mpeg2dmx.ax. Both files are AVI, I just don't know why one will work and the other doesn't. If more info is needed let me know.
