i've got to remark that this is one of the greatest tech threads i've ever ran across.
i, too, experienced the wackiness that is the mup-pet.sys gone mad. my ultimate
solution was to re-flash my bios.
my situation involved bringing back an OS from a sysprep'd backup. almost identical
hardware except for the motherboard (though the replacement was the same model as
the original), the chip, and the ram...everything else the same. i overlooked one
key component which this post helped me keep in mind within the depths of the myriad
of things with which others have tried in this thread and apparently found success.
i solved my mup.sys Rubik's Cube by flashing the bios to the same version as that
of the backup sysprep image. i should have realized this as a fundamental component
of bringing back an OS from a different motherboard, but if i had, i would never
know the joy of this mup-peteer.sys thread.
thanks to you all and those that take time out of their lives to help others. good
stuff.
