Hi there!
If the proces msmsgs.exe pops up every time, even after killing it over and over
again, please check the following to get rid of it:
1.- Check your registry in HKEYCurrentUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run...
Good chance you will find an entry here which is defined like ...Windows/messenger/msmsgs.exe
/background. Right?
2.- If so, delete the entry and hop to another key and then back to \Run again...
and notice that the entry will be born again. Right?
3.- If so, the registry entry is kept alive by another process, named wcescomm.exe
which resides in the Windows/Prefetch-directory. It will also be stated in your running
process-list. If so, kill it first before going on!
4.- Delete wcescomm.exe in you /Windows/Prefetch-dir.
5.- Next, delete the malicious registry entry (see 1.)
6.- Make a hop to another regkey and then return to the \Run-key and notice that
the malicious entry is NOT rebuild again as it was before (in step 2.)
7.- Now you're done. No more messenger-sh!t will be running in background.
