No need to do use any such application. Can do it all manually in safe mode.
Firstly copy and paste the new file over the backup files that XP keeps tucked away
(use Search to locate these - you only want to replace the CURRENT version of the
particular file). Once you've done this, drag the sys32 copy to a back-up location
HOLDING DOWN THE RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON...on release select "move here". Paste the modified
copy of the file into the system32 folder and reboot.
The only file thus far that I have not been able to safely relpace this was is the
user32.dll - touching that ALWAYS brings on the blue screen of death on reboot!!
