-- What happens, or not, when you try to use NIS.

- e.g. are they all MS programs that are embedded in WinXP, are they other MS programs
such as in its Office suite, or are they 3rd-party apps.?
-- Have you run full
system scans for vires and malware, preferably in safe mode to the extent possible?
-- Checked for any errors logged in each of the Application and System categories
in the Event Viewer (Start menu -> Administrative Tools) at about the time the described
misbehavior occurs? Right-click on any such logged error, and then click on Properties
to raise its Properties box, from which get the error's description, source, category,
and event ID. That info. may help someone diagnose the problem.
