Outlook messages automatically moving to Deleted Items folder

Can anyone think of a reason why some e-mail messages would automatically download to the Deleted Items folder. I've checked the Rules, and although there are some Rules set up to move items to the Deleted Items folder, none of the e-mails showing up in this folder match the criteria set out in the rules. I initially thought the user was accidentally deleting the wrong messages while they downloaded, but the messages showing up in this folder are usually from the same senders. We're using Outlook 2003 on an XP machines. TIA for your help.
