I've installed winXP onto my new computer (1) with the legit CD i got from my previous
comp (2), which was still intended to be used.
I was able to successfully activate winXP online on the new computer as well.
However the old comp (2) a few days ago began prompting for windows activation beginning
from '5 days to go.'
And when i select 'activate now' it says windows is already activated, but it prompts
this at every restart and startup of the computer now. i now notice that 'activate
windows' is fixed into the 'all programs part' of the start menu.
But it isnt there for the new comp.
I thought using the same CD was ok because again, a while ago, on another even older
computer (3) that ran winME i installed that same copy of XP to update it (after
i had gotten the comp (2) that came with XP).
that comp wasnt connected to the net so i activated by phone.
the indian call operator asked if this was installed on more than 1 comp and
i replied yes. i was still given a code to activate it and it was successful.
that 'oldest' comp (3) is no longer in use but im rather confused about what to do
now.
what will happen when the activation time runs out?
i got 2 days. but when i try to activate it keeps saying that it is already activated.
do i hav to buy another copy of winXP? cause that is really f**ked. i already paid
for one. why do i need another?!
any ideas or help you can give me about this puzzle i would be grateful.
thanks.
