I am having problems with autorun not working also, and apparently this is a common
problem. So common that MS should have an easy fix, right?
I went through MS's fix for this problem step by step, the solution downloaded from
their knowledge base. I made all the registry checks, updated drivers and even the
drives' BIOS's. Nothing worked. I uninstalled Roxio 6.0 (MS says only versions 5.0
and earlier cause problems) and presto! Autorun on my DVD started working again.
On my CDROM, different story. It quit working about two months after I build my PC.
I uninstalled everything that could have been causing problem autorun not to work
(I suspect the SW bundled either with the CDROM drive, or with my Creative soundcard).
I finally fixed the CDROM by uninstalling the drive itself, and allowing Windows
to redetect it.
So two different fixes for two different drives.
Now the very OBVIOUS question: How do you get around the problem of SW like Nero
and Roxio disabling the autorun feature? Are there any other burning SW out there
that does NOT disable autorun? This is very annoying.
