Hi Folks:
The problem continues inspite of the fact that I have removed ZA, AVAST, everythiing
to do with security. This all started after I applied the new updates from MS. I
still get a black screen takes very long for the desktop to appear. Earlier I would
get those two computer Icons of my REalTek LAN enabled in the Tray, but I get a mesage
stating "Local connection Cable unplugged", Still these error persisit
1. Cant initialize Winsock.dll, execution aborted
2. Cant start WSAstartup() (I guess due to Download Manger startiing up, my Guess)
Googling , I found that to rename winsock.dll, wsock32.dll, wsock32n.dll, and use
sfc command from command prompt reload System files from the original CD. I desperately
need this problem solved as I have many apps, and work related stuff on this Toshiba
P25-S507 Laptop. It has these network adapters
1. Atheros Wireless CARD
2. Realtek 10/100, 815 LAN /NIC Card
3. Somother Network CARD.
Atheros Wireless is disabled, but Realtek used work, now it does not. I still cannot
get Windows Firewall setup as I get this message "Windows Firewall Service ICS cannot
be started: Please lookup HELP"
Any Leads, I need my dialup and network connection working through WinXP, I am writing
this from the dual booting Linux on thsi Laptop.
Many Thanks,
Alan
