Microsoft has promised to release today a fix for the bad updates. Download the .exe
file and run it locally. Your problem may go away.
My suggestion in the last post was based on personal experience: I had a problem
with an update last month. Upon rebooting it told me that the update failed, and
it would not run again from the update site. After that I had to delete all temp
files, a lot of system log files, and reboot several times before the .exe ran successfully.
If you think you have a registry problem, to protect yourself in the future, use
