Hi, It would help to know what your machine is and how much memory you have but hammad
is right you probably have a gozillion things starting up when windows starts and
your network settings are a factor in how fast your startup is also.

I will tell you step by step where to go to see what is starting up when windows
starts. Click your start button, click on run, in the box type msconfig and then
OK.
When the utility window comes up click on the startup tab. Everything that is checked
in the list there is starting when windows starts. You can uncheck these items if
you dont want them to startup with windows.

However, I would not turn off any antivirus software or firewall program you may
have there. You really need to know what you want to be starting with windows and
what you dont. Most of the things listed there can be accessed simply by clicking
their desktop icon or choosing them in your programs list and really have nio need
to start when windows starts. But there may be some you want to start with windows.
Also anytime you have any problem always scan for viruses first before you do anything
else. Hope this helps
