I've been having similar problems to what has been mentioned here. I have Windows
XP embedded.
The sound had stopped working on my computer, when I went to sound devices everthing
was greyed out, and I was told no sound devices present.
So I went to device manger and it said everything was working properly, all apart
from Microsoft Kernel wave audio mixer. My first thoughts were where the heck did
that come from, as it wasn't there before and as far as I know I haven't installed
it.
So I disabled the device and enabled it, now the sound is working fine (for now).
But every time you use the touch screen the computer beeps, like an error beep, but
in device manager nothing is wrong. When we use an alternative input method there
is no beep. Anyone have any clue? I'm quite lost myself.
Cheers
