You didn't just add a hard drive, you added a SATA controller as well, that's a major 
change.

So why did you install SP2? I'm on thwe internet 7 x 24, and never have installed 
SP2, or any of the other so called critical patches.

Also Messenger is easily disabled permanently, just shut down the service.

And instead of complaining about performance ask what can be done to improve it.
