(1 messages posted) I recently had the same problem with Windows Installer "preparing to install" every time I opened Word or Internet Explorer. But I have now solved this - on my P.C. at any rate. It appears that the problem was caused by Adobe Acrobat which intergrates with Word, Excel, Internet Explorer etc. when they open up. I uninstalled the Adobe Suite, re-started my P.C. and found that the problem had gone away. I then re-installed Adobe, and everything is working O.K. with no annoying pop-ups. Hope this will help some of you with a similar problem.
