I had recently installed Adobe Photoshop version 3 a free trial level program. It
has a card reader application that will allow a connection through various means
to download digital photos etc. I simply removed it and the problem was removed.
My thoughts are that you have a program attempting to read a card reader and it is
not installed or updated correctly.
