Thanks Winger, I've been having no end of trouble with this spoolsv and it turns
out you're right - bloody Norton was to blame; in this case Norton Internet Security
2006 suite running on XP SP2. My symptoms were; any time I opened a print dialog
(even if I didn't print anything) the CPU maxed out 100% and I had to kill the spoolsv.exe
to stop it. Disabling all the Norton Internet Security services did the trick.
Thinking of uninstalling it altogether as I've had nothing but weird issues since
putting it on.
