It sounds like either your computer isn't set to obtain an IP address automatically
and/or the router doesn't have DHCP turned on.
To fix it you first want to make sure that your computer is set to obtain
IP addresses automatically.
To do this right click on "My Network Places" and select "Properties".
A window will pop up and one of the icons should be called something like "Local
Area Connection".
Right click on that and select "Properties".
You will get a window that looks like this:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Scroll down to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then hit properties.
You will get another window, make sure the option "Obtain an IP address automatically"
is selected.
If it wasn't selected to begin with, then that was probably your problem.
After hitting "OK" right click on "My Network Places" again and select "Repair" and
you should be done.

If obtain IPs automatically was already selected then you will need to login to the
router and turn on DHCP.
DHCP is what all the computers on your network will use to obtain their IP addresses.

To figure out how to login to your router do a search on the make/model.
Or post it here and someone will help. =)

Once you have logged into your router there will be an option that says something
to the effect of: "Enable DHCP".
You will want to click that and save your settings.
The router will then probably reboot itself.
Give it a couple of minutes to finish then go back, right click "My Network Places"
and select repair.

Your problem should be solved.
