Office Beta Activation unable to find an internet connection

Hi - I am having trouble with MS-Office Pro 2007 Beta Activation. Yes I have XP sp2.
I put in the KEY they gave me and it was accepted.
Yet NOW it wants to ACTIVATE and it says it is
"unable to find an internet connection."
I am not using a Firewall.
I can browse with Mozilla, IE etc. with no trouble
so I DO HAVE a good internet connection.
Can anyone help please??

(P.S. WHY does Microsoft have to make everything
so absurdly burdensome so they can make the
biggest pile of money in the world, and THEN Gates
has to retire and become a philanthropoist because he
made TOO MUCH and now he needs to go give
it away?
Just let the poor shmucks keep more in the first place,
