Hi guys,
on the note of xp update causing probs i suffered the same fate as all of you. I
had no roll back option as with some of you. I cured my problem by
a. i typed the description of my pc and model into a well known search engine and
then checked the spec of the build. This identified the soundcard.
(it transpires that it is not c-media ac'97 but realtek ac'97)
b. I cut and pasted this into the search engine. It led me to the following site.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?series=8&Software=True
c. i downloaded the zip file so i could scan for viruses
d. moved the unzipped folder to the desktop
e. pointed to this folder from within the device manager.
HEY Presto. you should then go back to the folder and select setup. This will give
you the rest of the features and update your driver list.
hope this helps you guys... cheers
