OK, I've found what works for me. I downloaded a small utility program called Sleeper
(http://www.passmark.com/products/sleeper.htm) that forces my PC to go into S3 state
(Stand By mode with all fans off). Just make sure when you configure it, you select
"Force Into Selected State" and "Sleep Forever" (untill user wake up) options. Unless
you want for your PC to wake up after a certain amount of time. After you run this
program once you won't need to access it anymore to go into Stand By mode - your
regular Windows option will start working like it should. Oh, and the USB mouse and
keyboard will still have to be unchecked from "Allow to wake up" option (actually
the Sleeper will give you an error message prompting you to do that if you don't).
OK, one problem solved, more to go :) Thank you Bill Gates for making my life so
interesting!
