Tell your guy at the 'puter store to reinstall himself the next time you see him.
Who the hell wants to reinstall Windows for this Microsoft bug that software companies
have exploited to the nth degree, rendering the autorun/autoplay functionality...unfunctional.
Do this:
go into regedit
(I'm assuming most who are reading this are somewhat computer savvy)
Find this registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
value for autorun should be 1. If not, change it to 1.
Now, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
hexadecimal value for NoDriveTypeAutoRun should be 91. If it is 0xb5, or doesn't
exist create a new dword value. If a dword value of NoDriveAutoRun exists, rename
it to NoDriveTypeAutoRun with a 91 value.
Restart and all should be good.
If it's not fixed there could be a couple other things that need to be changed.
I'll go into it later if needed, I gotta get a beer now. Out.
