Thank you thank you thank you -- I had this problem today. You've reached two years
into the future to solve this problem for me and I'm ever so grateful.
Microsoft Office Document Image Writer is evil. Pure evil. There was a pdf file
in it queue. As soon as I deleted it the problem was GONE. 0% usage in nanoseconds.
Note that the Document Image Writer is not my printer, I have no idea what it is
for, actually, but somehow or other a document got in there and was gumming up my
whole system.
Check your printers in your control panel. I'm guessing that the Document Image
Writer is part of XP so it is there whether you know it or not.
