first thing I'd do would be to replace the Powersupply.A leak of 6V to Ground is 
a serious Matter.Safetywise and in relation to the Machine itself.Something like 
that has to disturb the rather delicate Circuitry of the Computer.If it is not the 
Powersupply,check the wiring where it goes along the Metalparts of the Box.I think 
you will have to resolve that problem first.
