Had tried everything in this thread.. no sucess.. As soon as I highligh or try to
play .avi file, explorer errors out.. Tonight I updated to media player 10.. Still
no good.. Then just for kicks, i went ahead and send error message to microsoft..
Amazing.. a screeen opened right up and told me i had an xvid codec problem.. I went
to the site they recommended and installed new codec.. More amazing.. Problem GONE!!
avi files open right up.. and are now able to highlight them without causing explorer
shutdown.. Good Luck and hope this might help someone..
