On dwwin shutdown problems I have found one cause that may be of interest. I use
Intel wireless management, driver 9.0.4.13 for the 2200 b/g chipset. On startup I
got a popup from the MS wireless network item in the system tray to say my network
had limited connectivity while the Intel side was busy in its preamble negotiating
a connection. The MS message was a bit premature, and as soon as the wireless driver
sorted its connection it promptly disappeared. Now I thought I would disable the
noxious limited connectivity pop up from network connections properties for the wireless
connection. I discovered doing this is one cause of the dwwin shutdown unhandled
errors. Clues I got were event 26 Pop up info messages under system in the event
viewer relating to dwwin and drwtsn32.exe dll uninitialized - ie a pop up. I wracked
my brains what I could have done to prompt this then it twigged. Other clues were
the proplem disappearing if I disabled wireless. Looks like Microsoft's error handling
not handling its own errors... Of course there could be a app closing/sequence/timing
issues at play so you may or may not see the problem I guess.
